How Alvin Valley, the designer label The New York Times crowned the King of Pants, turns each new collection into a live shopping moment on its own store, lifting average order value by about 38% over its non-live baseline and moving nearly 30% of cart shoppers through to checkout, all while keeping the audience and the first-party data on its own site.

Alvin Valley is a designer's brand. Named the King of Pants by The New York Times, Alvin Valley built his label in Miami in 1995, opened a SoHo atelier, showed at New York Fashion Week, and reached more than 250 doors including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. The through line across three decades is personal: as the designer himself puts it, he has always interacted directly with consumers, dressing clients from Kate Winslet to Jennifer Lopez one relationship at a time.
Today the brand sells that same craft directly to customers on its own store, from the best-fitting pants and jeans to leather pieces and bags at luxury price points. The problem is structural: a seasonal launch deserves a moment, and a product page plus an email cannot create one. Static merchandising can announce that new arrivals have landed, but it cannot show how a pant drapes, answer a question about fit or fabric in real time, or carry the founder led, personal voice the brand was built on. New collections were converting at the rates typical of e-commerce, a small fraction of the audience that came to look.
Alvin Valley wanted to launch each season the way the designer has always sold, in person, expressive, and in direct conversation with the customer, and to do it on channels the brand owns rather than renting reach and handing the audience to a social platform.
Goals
Alvin Valley runs an ongoing series of seasonal live shopping events on Terrific, anchored on its own store and built around the rhythm of its collections.
A Live For Every New Collection
Each seasonal drop becomes a live event rather than a homepage banner. When new arrivals land, the collection is hosted, shown, and shopped live, so the season launches as a destination the community can attend the moment it happens.
Founder Led Selling, Online
The live format brings back the direct, personal way Alvin Valley has always sold, showing how each piece fits and moves and speaking to the customer in the brand's own voice, at scale, without a store visit.
Real Time Fit And Fabric
Luxury buyers want to see the drape, the leather, and the cut before they commit. The live lets the audience ask about fit and fabric in the moment and see the answer on camera, closing the gap a static product page leaves open.
Owned Channels, Owned Data
Every live runs on Alvin Valley's own Terrific store and embeds directly on alvinvalley.com. Every viewer, every cart, and every checkout stays on the brand's domain as first-party data it fully owns, not on a social platform's algorithm.

Newness Deserves A Moment
A new collection is already an event. A live makes it feel like one, replacing a static launch with a hosted reveal the audience chooses to attend.
Bigger Baskets, Live
Shoppers buying during the live spend about 38% more per order than Alvin Valley's non-live baseline, the difference guided selling and real time storytelling make at the moment of purchase.
Intent That Shows Up Fast
In a single 33 minute session, 6.6% of live viewers added a luxury priced item to cart, the kind of top of funnel intent a quiet product page rarely produces in the same window.
A Funnel That Closes
Nearly 30% of shoppers who added to cart moved through to checkout during the live, because live shopping turns browsing into a guided, real time decision instead of a saved tab.
The Founder's Advantage, At Scale
The brand's edge has always been the designer's direct relationship with the customer. Live is the first online format that recreates it, turning personal selling into a repeatable event.
Owned Audience, Owned Data
Reach on a social platform is rented and the audience is theirs. On Terrific, the viewers, the carts, and the first-party data all stay on Alvin Valley's own store, launch after launch.
